Off the west coast of Southern Thailand, Krabi is a province characterized by sheer, craggy cliffs, lush and dense greenery, and surrounded by multiple beautiful islands. As a classic go-to beach destination, Krabi offers a variety of recreational activities that are convenient and easy to arrange for all types of travelers.
Right off when you land in Krabi, there are many helpful tourist counters that offer flexible and adaptable packages with a combination of your choice of beach and inland activities to suit your preferences. With highly affordable attractions from island hopping, snorkelling, and kayaking to visiting nature trails, lazing in hot springs to elephant rides, there’s plenty to see and enjoy.
Krabi Island Tours
One of the most-activities in Krabi has to be island hopping. Surrounded by pristine, white sandy beaches and aquamarine waters, Krabi boasts dozens and dozens of islands.
One of the most popular and highly recommended tours is the four-island tour – consisting of Koh Gai (Chicken Island), Koh Poda, Koh Mor and Koh Tub. Each island offers its own unique charms from Koh Gai, otherwise known as Chicken Island and named for its resemblance to a chicken head.
Walk over “water” to Koh Tub from Chicken Island at low tide then, snorkel in Koh Poda’s beautiful coral reefs.
Emerald Pool
A short trek into the National Park at a basic fee will bring you right to the beautiful Emerald Pool with it’s cool, clear with green waters. Replenished by natural spring water from the limestone hill above it, the pool is wide and huge to swim around.
Head over early at 9 am before the crowd of students makes their way over or during off peaks to get full enjoyment of the pool.
Klong Thom Hot Springs
If you’re going to the Emerald Pool, make sure to make a pit stop at the hot springs. Roughly half an hour away by car rental or taxi, the hot springs feature jacuzzi-like pools of soothing, therapeutic warm water to relax your tired muscles.
The hot springs average 35 to 40° and are filled with natural mineral salts, which are claimed to ease multiple health concerns like rheumatism and sciatica. Basking in the warmth and enclosed in nature, these hot springs are a great stress reliever away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Krabi Town
Be a part of the locals in Krabi Town with a tranquil stroll by the riverside or visit the downtown area where you can find the Wat Kaew Korawaram temple, a small contemporary art museum or the two fresh markets.
Keep your weekend nights open to stop by the Krabi Night Market on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays from 5 pm to 10 pm. The night market features a wide range of colourful and fun souvenirs and you can even enjoy Thailand’s street food here.
Spa & Massage
After days of physical activity, wind down at any one of Krabi’s many affordable massage parlours. Check your hotel for massage services or take a short tuk-tuk ride out to any of the many massage parlours dotted around town.
Spread along the roadsides of Krabi Town, these massage parlours offer a series of therapeutic Thai massages at great rates and make a perfect end to a long and tiring day.
